OSEB: Eligible Business Activities
In general, what types of Business qualify for OSEB support?
The business MUST be
- A new business or existing business in which the applicant has no prior ownership
- A business suitable for public funding as per ministry guidelines
The business MAY be
- Seasonal
- Home based
- A hobby converted to business
- Can be sole proprietorship,
- Can also be partnership or corporation but with some limitation

What are some of the ineligible business activities as per the government of Ontario?
Here are some of the types of business that would not be considered eligible
- Any business that involves, in the opinion of the Ministry
- Any sexual exploitation, illegal activity or promotion of hate and/or discrimination
- Business that are based on commission
- Franchises
- Home-based daycares (commercial day cares qualify)
- Part-time business
- Business that the applicant already owns or has started working
- Includes start up business as indicated by
- Purchase of supplies
- Lease of office space, employee training
- Material purchased for resale
- Advertising either in paper, radio and/or web
- Already have a client base
